We're Jammin'

jammin', jammin', jammin',
I'm jammin',
I hope you're jammin' too

well, when the battle's over,
what else do three bands do...
and where else are you going to get to see Rosli playing with Wilf,
whilst Fletch holds down the tambourine?

or Martin join the front line while Amlir sings the blues
and Les wanders off into the crowd for a dance...

Apologies if it was, perhaps, a little disorganized,
but it couldn't have been all bad:
there were, after all, no less than four bass players...

(and Les, at the back, who just wants to be one!)

And now it would be two in the morning,
time for the music to finally end...

Thanks to all of you who turned up
and to each and every band.

see you again soon...

A Big Hand For...

You!

Yes, there's only one reason we get up and play:
so that you'll turn up and dance.

and dance you did,
so we hope you enjoyed yourselves, and that we'll see you all again soon...

last up,

the final set...

Ladies & Gentlemen...

Would you please welcome to the stage,
from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia...

introducing, on the his Les Paul...
Mr Les Paul
oh, whoops, did I make a mistake, isn't that...

but, hang on, if he's... then who is...
ah, problem solved, it's Erik,
who's almost as endowed in the vocal department as...

but for some reason this was silly wig night at the Conlay,
as Stew patently demonstrated when taking a break from behind the keys...
Howlin' Wilf, the man with the harp, would of course, never have need of a wig...
Whilst Hywel, yes that's me up there, at the back, where bass players are always put, under-appreciated, could probably do with something, anything, I'm sure you're all thinking, to cover himself up.

Which brings us to the apologies section:

Stage left, the other end to the camera, yes that's him over there,
behind the mikes, sorry Fletch,
the man with the rhythm and the red guitar...
Gavin

And lastly, but by no means leastly, two feet below,
down at the back, from where it's all driven,
and where no camera will reach,
until now...
don't ask me how, but if you wait long enough, a picture finally turns up,
on the drums...
Steve

But then the bands are only there because you turn up to dance.
Yes you.

And next on the stage...

to rock you through the second set...

laying down the groove,
on guitar...
Rosli Boni

and, plectrum in mouth, screaming out the solos...
Khairudin

the smooth operator,
on vocals...
Amlir

tickling those ivories,
on the keyboard...
Hamdan

and at the heart of the band,
(the bass player always is)
slapping, popping and plucking,
on bass...
Hisham

oh, yes, he's groovin', but you want to see what he really
looks like...

which brings us to the man with the hair,
the driving force,
the drummer at the back, where no camera could reach...
Firdaus

Yes it's apologies again to the drummers,
but a big hand for Magnum Opus

Next to the stage...

Krude

Please put your hands together for...

Up first on the night, so up first in the pictures...

introducing the front line guitar trio of Les, Martin and Gav...
(any resemblence to Krude guitarists of the same name
would be, oh, yeah, right, it would be, spot on)

blowin' down south, and blowin' you all away,
on the harp...
Howlin' Wilf

the rhythmn, the soul,
the man who makes me worry that I'm not a good
enough bass player...
Mr Leslie Bala
and last, but by no means least,
the man who lays it all down,
the power behind the drums...
Dave Mew

Ah, but, unfortunately, those drums were not only located at the back of the stage, they were about two feet lower than the rest of the stage and no-one, all night, seems to have taken any pictures of any of the drummers, not unless you count the odd drumstick barely visable from behind some guitarist hogging, as they do, all the limelight.

Apologies, but rest assured that even though we couldn't see you very well, we could hear you, and we liked what we heard.

Up next...

Magnum Opus

Knockout

The poster promised it and it turned out to be, even better than could have been expected, a
Total Knockout.

Three great bands who all rocked the crowded house all night long.

And, of course, lots of free beer courtesy of Transocean.
Thank you, Transocean, very much.

Just a couple of pictures for now, check back over the coming week as all the rest, of all the bands, and the great crowd, get loaded up.

To The Conlay Club...

Those of you who came to the last Krude gig will already know the way but for those of you who don't, click here. I'm sorry that it doesn't bring up a map, just a link, but if you click on it, it will bring up the map, promise. Technology. What was wrong with valves?

For those of you who prefer words, it's next door to the Prince Hotel. Out the front door and turn left if you are one of those who live in the Prince. Between the Prince and the Bon Ton Restaurant for those of you coming from further afield.

See you there...

No Falls, No Submissions...

Magnum Opus, Klang River Band and, of course, Krude.

They look great together in one, brand new, poster and they are going to sound even better together on the same stage. Come decide for yourself who's the best in the Battle of the Bands

This coming Saturday, the 10th, at the Conlay Club on Jalan Conlay, next to the Prince Hotel
